Definition
A developer response is the public reply an app maker posts under a user's App Store review.
You write responses in App Store Connect, or with the App Store Connect API. You can reply to any review, no matter how old it is. Only one response per review shows on your page. You can edit or delete it later, and edited replies are marked.
When you reply, Apple tells the reviewer, and they can update their review. Apple says a reply can take up to 24 hours to appear.
Good practice
Keep replies short, polite and about what the user said. Apple's guidelines say not to include personal information, spam or marketing. A good reply thanks the person, owns the problem, and gives a fix or a next step. See our reply templates.
Example
Review: "Crashes every time I open a photo."
Response: "Sorry about that, Jo. We fixed this crash in 2.4.1, which is out today. Please update, and email help@example.com if it still happens."
