How the engagement rate formula works

Engagement rate measures how much of your audience actually reacts to your posts. Divide your average likes plus comments per post by your follower count, then multiply by 100. A creator with 12,500 followers averaging 480 likes and 35 comments has an ER of 4.12% — healthy by 2026 standards.

What is a good engagement rate in 2026?

1–3% is average, 3–6% is healthy, and above 6% is excellent territory where brands start paying attention. Accounts under 10k followers usually run higher rates than big accounts — smaller audiences are warmer.

Low number? It's almost always the content, not the algorithm

Weak hooks, buried CTAs and captions built for the wrong platform quietly kill engagement. Those are exactly the things a content score catches before you post.
