What is a content score? How creators grade posts before publishing

By Suvajit Sahoo, co-founder of Synthiya · Updated 5 July 2026 · 5 min read

TL;DR A content score is a 0–100 rating that predicts how well a social media post is likely to perform, measured before you publish. It grades things you control — hook, caption, hashtags, CTA, timing — against a fixed rubric. You can check yours free on Synthiya in about 20 seconds, no signup.

The definition

A content score is a number, usually out of 100, that estimates a post's performance potential based on measurable factors: how strong the first line is, whether the call to action is visible, if the hashtags match the niche, whether the format fits the platform, and when it's scheduled to go out. It's the same idea as a credit score, applied to a draft instead of a loan application.

The point is timing. Analytics tools tell you what happened after a post flopped. A content score tells you what's wrong before anyone sees it, while you can still fix it.

What a content score actually measures

Synthiya's engine checks 264 factors and groups them into 12 categories. The big ones:

How to read your score

80–100 · post it 60–79 · fixable 0–59 · rewrite

Above 80 means the avoidable mistakes are gone — publish. Between 60 and 79, the idea works but something specific is dragging it down; the category sub-scores show you what. Below 60 usually means the hook or the CTA needs a rewrite, not a polish.

One honest caveat: no score guarantees virality. Reach also depends on your audience, the algorithm's mood that day, and plain luck. What a score does is raise your floor. You stop losing posts to mistakes you could have caught in twenty seconds.

Why we built a scorer instead of another analytics tool

We kept seeing the same pattern with our own posts: hours on the creative, thirty seconds on the caption, post, flop, shrug. The feedback always arrived a day late, dressed up as an impressions graph. So we built the thing we wanted — a strict friend with a rubric who reads the draft first. That became Synthiya, and Roast Mode exists because sometimes the polite version of feedback doesn't land as well as "nobody survived till line 4."
